• 1 ready made pie crust ( I like to use my pie plate so I use the refrigerated crust )
  • 4 c peeled apples (I like honey crisp)
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 3/4 c flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg (I use cinnamon)
  • Dash of salt

Heat oven to 400 degrees.  Put the pie crust in your pie plate then add apples.  Melt butter and stir in the remaining ingredients. Crumble this mixture over the apples.  Bake for 40 minutes. I have a hot oven and bake for 35 minutes. The topping should be a golden brown.

This recipe comes from my friend Julie’s mom, Kay.  I love it because it uses common ingredients, it’s very easy and it’s really pretty to serve.  I like to use the refrigerated pie crusts so I can use pretty pie plates rather than the frozen crusts in the silver pie tin. Now, if you can and want to make your own pie crust, go you!

The refrigerated pie crusts come in a package of two so I like to make a quiche at some point then use the other for this recipe.
