This is my husband’s all time favorite pie and a recipe that always makes me think of the Wilmer girls. They were sweet, old family friends who were fabulous cooks and I so wish I had more of their recipes. This one they kindly shared when I was a young bride probably 30 years ago. I try to keep this favorite recipe for special occasions.
Ingredients & Instructions
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or make your own)
- 3 eggs slightly beaten
- 1 Cup Karo syrup light or dark
- 1 Cup sugar
- 2 T butter, melted
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1-1/2 Cups pecans whole or chopped ( I think whole pecans is a little prettier but chopped does make cutting the perfect piece easier)
Pour into a pie crust (if you want to be fancy call it a pastry shell). Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 50 minutes or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Why I Love This Pecan Pie Recipe
Pecan pie. Just those two words sound not only delicious but a little intimidating to think about making, but It seriously has to be the easiest pie there is and with these simple ingredients you can have a dessert in a snap! I like to have a bag of pecans in the freezer for this and other recipes and since the ready made pie crusts (I like to use the refrigerated pie crusts so I can use my own pretty pie plate especially if I’m serving guests). They come in twos I use the second one for a quiche the following week.
Don’t forget to serve it with ice cream!
