When it comes to the ladies in your life, it is a little easier to shop because what you like, they’d probably like, too! Here are a few ideas to help you with your holiday shopping this year.
Little Things
Small Christmas trees and little collections of greenery are perfect to pair with something else like a cozy hat, scarf, mittens or a fun piece of jewelry. You can usually find things like this and local shops or at one of my favorite places, TJ Maxx. Something like this can be wrapped up or put in a cute basket. A gift like this is great for teachers, neighbors friends or as an add-on gift for someone in your family.
Towels
I love towels. The Euroscrubby is something everyone needs in their life. My husband used it to get white paint off his black truck, all without scratching the truck. Now, that’s obviously not a “normal” use but these things are great in the kitchen!
I also like fun dishtowels. These can be put in a cute basket with a wooden spoon and a mix to make a gift. Pop in a little greenery to round it out. Or, use towels for stocking stuffers! Here in Clear Lake, Ralphene’s and KB Emporium are two places I love for these types of things. KB just got in some fun towels from Geometry House that I think daughters would love. They have a little bit of an Anthropologie/CB2 vibe to me.
Booze
“On the Rocks” premium cocktails are something I noticed this summer in the grocery store. The glass bottles with a wooden lid have a a pre-made, premium cocktail in them. Pair this with a fun glass or kitchen towel for a quick gift that’s fun and useful!
For a bigger gift, pick up local bottle of booze from Iowa Distilling or Cedar Ridge. I’d pop a cute hat on the top of the bottle and tie it with a fun bow.
If the ladies in your life are beer drinkers, Lake Time Brewery is local to Clear Lake but you can find their beer across Iowa. Haze of our Lives is great for the IPA lovers and Peanut Butter Porter or Oreo Speedwagon are both good dark beers. Add a bag of everyone’s favorite Dot’s Pretzels to round out the gift.

Kendra Scott Jewelry
This jewelry line makes a great gift for any lady in your life. It’s fashionable but well-made. Their Fern Pendant is really simple but it’s something she can wear with anything – sweatshirt to layering it with a flashier piece and dressing it up. My daughter wears hers all the time. Statement earrings are also a fun gift. You can even engrave and customize pieces on Kendra Scott’s website.
Shopping Local Boutiques
We have awesome ladies’ boutiques in Northern Iowa. One of my new favorites is Grace & Strength. They focus on “athlete to street,” clothing that’s versatile and comfortable. Sherpa seems to be everywhere this winter and they have a sweatshirt with zippers on the sides that’s really cute! Be sure to follow them on Facebook for the latest looks.
Real Deals, Funky Zebras, KB Emporium, Weathered Elements, and Lake Lifestyle are all really fun places to shop for gifts in the area. One of my new favorites in Mason City is My Fair Trade. The purchases help fight human trafficking and everything is artisan made.

Fresh Floral & Greenery
I am probably biased on this one but as a former florist, I do think that fresh arrangements and greenery make great gifts during the holidays – especially for people who already have everything they need. Kelly Wreath Company in Clear Lake operates around the holidays and makes amazing fresh wreaths, arrangements and more. For fresh flowers in north Iowa, try The Red Geranium.
